This day marked our 21st wedding anniversary. My hubby surprised me with a water getaway not today but tomorrow since he wanted our kids and my mother to celebrate this special occasion with them. In the meantime, we will be having dinner in Circuit Makati, just the two of us. We were craving ramen. But to our dismay, there’s no restaurant in this mall that serves our favorite dish. So we opted to eat noodles, and we chose Shi Lin.
I’ve been to Taiwan and Shi Lin sounds so familiar to me. I was right when I’ve learned from the head server that Shi Lin was named after Taipei’s Shi Lin District and best known for Shi Lin Night Market.
Shi Lin had Oriental interiors that evoke an image of tranquility and calm. I love their attractive lanterns and the art pieces hang on walls. The tables and chairs were neatly arranged. Overall, the place was clean and neat. Our table had a backdrop of two kids enjoying a bicycle ride.
Shi Lin offers authentic Taiwanese cuisine. Their specialty dishes are Shilin Fried Chicken, Salt and pepper Fried Chicken with Chili, Spicy Spare Ribs, and varieties of Steam Dumpling, noodles, and congee. When I was in Taiwan I love to eat dumplings and wonton soup. It’s good that Shi Lin will bring me back again to Taiwan and have a taste of its food.
I ordered Shrimp and Pork Wonton Soup (Php205). It was served hot and I could say, this is one of the best soups I’ve tasted. I’m a fan of wonton that’s why I always order this food in every Oriental restaurant. The wonton was tasty and tenderized and the texture of the noodles was just right.
My hubby ordered the Spicy Noodles with Sesame & Peanut Sauce (Php165). Having peanuts in a noodle is something new to us. The spicy taste blended well with the sesame and peanut. The texture of the noodles was just right too. But for me, I still love noodles with soup rather than a dry one.
We both love broccoli. The Stir Fly Broccoli (Php165) was just perfect.
Fried Shrimp and Pork Wonton (Php150) is a must-try. As I’ve said I’m a fan of a wonton. This one had a crispy coating, not so salty, just right for me. Shi Lin had a better presentation compared to other Chinese/Taiwanese restaurants.
Verdict:
The food was good and not so expensive. They have a 10% service charge. Our meal costs us Php685 only. The serving was fast. We love to go back and try their Shi Lin Fried Chicken.
They have branches at Powerplant Mall, The Fort, Eastwood, Greenbelt 3, Trinoma, Lucky Chinatown, Podium, and Alabang Town Center.
