The location of Gingerbread House in Alfonso, Cavite was conceptualized on the story of the siblings Hansel and Gretel who got lost in the woods and later discovered the large cottage made of gingerbread, cakes, and candy owned by a cannibalistic witch.

At first, you will really think you are lost in getting to the Gingerbread House because you have to enter a remote barangay abounds by trees, with sparse houses and people. But don’t worry, the road was paved so it’s easy to navigate in the area. Thanks to the Waze apps for leading us the right way.

It’s my birthday today. I was aiming to go to Magalawa Island in Palauig, Zambales but my hubby and my son were not in a mood to embark on a long road trip. So my recommendation was to visit the Gingerbread House after our Sunday church services and we will have dinner at Leslie’s in Tagaytay. To which all of them agreed.

The entrance to the facility is on the GBH Bakery where we paid Php50/each for the entrance fee. After paying, we were stamped in our wrists. Meaning, everyone can enter and exit the premises anytime. The Bakery is selling freshly-made Gingerbread Man for Php200.00 and House Kit for Php350.00. They also sell varieties of sweet goodies for pasalubong.

As we entered, we were welcomed by a Gingerbread Santa Clause. Yes, it’s Christmas time now in the city! The first attraction inside GBH is the Well of Dreams. It was a wishing well where everyone will drop a coin and will make a wish.

Dream Catcher is where everyone can write their dreams on a small piece of paper and will hang it on the Dream boards.

We passed by the little swings which kids will surely enjoy riding. From there the beautiful and colorful Gingerbread House with artificial snow loomed right before our eyes. It was something surreal to look at. I felt I was Gretel being hypnotized by the house to go inside.

As we went inside the two-storey Gingerbread House, the scent of freshly-baked pastries was wafting in the air. It was teaming with beautiful decorations from tables, wall decors, and Gingerbread stuff toys. Every corner is adorned with Christmas decors, a nice backdrop for photo ops. It’s Christmas time everywhere inside Gingerbread House!

The ground floor has a restaurant where they offer breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. The café serves sweet treats like muffins, cakes, and cookies. They also sell varieties of candies, chocolates, biscuits, and crackers. Indeed, you will never get famished once you visit the Gingerbread House.

Near the stairs is the big Teddy Bear sitting on a bench. It is another nice backdrop for picture taking with the whole family and friends. On the second floor is a play area where kids were having fun playing inside the cute house.

From the main house, we went down to Fish Spa. Soak your feet into the water and get some relaxation while those black and small fishes will tickle your feet. Rate-Php50.00

Candy Village is the most crowded among the attractions in GBH. It has a playground, beautiful playhouses, and a mini studio for picture taking.

Another relaxation you will get in GBH is the spa services which are done in Sweet Spa, a lovely little house with an open veranda and a porch near the ground floor. The rate depends on what service you may choose.

The Museum is where you can learn how Gingerbread House started. And when you get inside, you will be welcomed by different gingerbread houses. It was a beautiful sight.

Aside from the swing and slide, there is also a trampoline for the kids to enjoy.

They have a function area where events and parties are held. They offer party packages for birthdays, baptismal, weddings, reunions, and even company outings. You may contact this number should you wish to celebrate a special occasion at GBH-0917-6303124.

Before we end our tour, we dropped by at the souvenir store to buy a ref magnet as my keepsake of our visit to the Gingerbread House.

Gingerbread House is certainly built for the kids. I saw their happy faces while frolicking on GBH’s attractions. Shen being a 12-year old kid is no longer excited to play but she was amused to see the cute houses in Candy Village and enjoyed munching muffins and cookies.

For the adult, these are what you can get: taking pictures of delightful spots that are IG-worthy, relaxation from Fish Spa and Sweet Spa, and filling your tummies with their sweet-tasting bread and pastries.

If you are on a visit in Tagaytay, better drop by at Gingerbread House to diverse the usual family getaway as we did.

Ride a bus (San Agustine, DLTB, BSC, Erjohn, or Celyrosa Express) en route to Nasugbu or Balayan, Batangas then alight at Splendido/Brgy. Upli Arch. From there ride a tricycle and tell the driver to drop you off at Gingerbread House (P25/head)
