Birthday Lunch at Vikings Luxury Buffet Restaurant, SM Mall of Asia

It’s my birthday today! And guess where I will eat my lunch today? It’s at Vikings Luxury Buffet Restaurant and it’s free! My kids did not want to be absent from school classes, so it’s me and my hubby who will indulge in a food adventure.

Vikings had these exciting promos for the birthday celebrant: first, one can eat for free both on lunch and dinner accompanied by at least one paying adult. The other, the celebrant can eat for free any day of the month of his/her birthday accompanied by four full-paying adults. Isn’t it great?

We had our reservation one month prior to my special day. Our reserved time is 11:30 am. We went ahead of time to get a better slot. Surprisingly, when we got there by 11:15 am, it was now jam-packed with people. Others had reservations, others are walk-ins. Seemed like it was already a crowd-month of December.

Shabu Shabu on Korean Section

We were assisted by staff as soon as we gave our names to the reception area and handed down one valid ID (mine was SSS). Just like other buffet restaurants, Vikings had a sophisticated interior design with attractive chandeliers.

“Attack!” My hubby told me smiling as soon as we hit our table.  We parted ways when he handed me the plate.  It was already 12:30 pm and I was so hungry.

Normally, I avoid eating rice when dining in a buffet restaurant so my tummy doesn’t get “full” instantly.  I took the main dish and here was my first plate.

no rice, please

A bit full, I took minutes of rest and explored the whole area to see what is my next set of food to eat.  I went to the Grilled Station but oh my! It had a long queue.  So long for those meat and seafood!

At Asian Section. Chinese section had a wide array of Dimsums, my favorite Siomai, and Siopao. They have chicken feet too.

Japanese section had this cute wooden ship filled with lots of variety of Sushi. They have Teriyaki, Sukiyaki and Shrimp Tempura.

Shabu-shabu was also available with choices of ingredients like Young Corn, Lobster Balls, Beef, Porkloin, Vermicelli Noodles, and more. Upon my request, a small burner with a small pot was delivered to our table with choices of soup like Sate or Tamarind.

Moving on there are the salad bars, choices of yummy bread and soup.

Carving Station was also packed with people. I was craving to eat the Boneless Lechon and Roast Turkey, but I can’t afford to waste my time waiting for my turn.

at Carving Station…

I was thinking of making my own pizza at Pizza and Pasta corner with varied selections of freshly made pasta but I chose to feast on unusual delicacies

The Beverage section had four seasons, papaya juice, ice tea, dalandan juice, fruit shakes, and soft drinks.

The dessert section is beside the bar. Vikings had an array of desserts from dark chocolate and strawberry fountains, ice cream, halo-halo, pastries, yogurts, marshmallows on sticks, and cakes.

Now, this is my second plate.

Then we had the shabu-shabu. My hubby is very good at mixing the sauces and adjusting the flavor of the broth.

I felt my tummy was so full so I rest again and went to the Flambe Section. It had four flavors to choose from-the Mango Diablo, Banana Foster, Crepes Suzette, and Vikings Pyre.  I tried Vikings Pyre to where the toppings were cooked in few minutes. It was so yummy!  This was my first dessert.

yummy Vikings Pyre

I tried to eat the exotic jellyfish but sorry, I don’t like it. Then the cuttlefish… oops I don’t like it too.

A group of four good-looking boys sang a birthday song for me and there I blew my candle! hahaha!

full and satisfied

I feasted on ice cream with marshmallows with chocolate dip. I couldn’t afford to finish my dessert for my stomach was so full.

But then, I ate a piece of cake. I skipped eating fresh fruits because I was engrossed eating again the delectable Vikings Pyre!

It was almost 3:00 pm when we finally retreated.

It was really a feast. The advantage of being early is having ample time to eat, explore, rest, eat and eat to your heart’s content.

Vikings and Yakimix for us were great above all the rest.

Satisfied and full, we bid goodbye to the restaurant. The place is worth visiting.  I can’t wait to go back with our son Paolo for surely, he will love to dine and experience a feast like a Viking.
