My good friend Alma prided the beautiful beaches in her hometown in Bolinao, the third class municipality in the province of Pangasinan. With this, we opted to stay for the night in Bolinao after my son’s 13th birthday celebration in Hundred Islands. Pao and the kids enjoyed much the sun and water fun and are all excited for another beach getaway.
Our island hopping in three islands and two caves in Hundred Islands was indeed a refreshing treat. We went back to Lucap wharf by 5:00 pm and freshen up. We headed to Bolinao ahead of darkness so it would be easy for us to find our chosen resort, Bing’s Resort in Barangay Patar. We dropped by in Bolinao market to buy food for our dinner and for our breakfast the following morning.
It was getting dark when we passed by the famous Puerto del Sol. We reached Bing’s Resort after a few more minutes. Asking the locals helped us find the right direction. When we parked our van in front of the resort, a staff named Amanda immediately approached us. We were so excited to see the bungalow-type units near the beachfront unfortunately, all rooms were occupied.
Amanda offered us an air-conditioned family room in the big native house which we crossed on the other side of the road. There were few streetlights and as I looked around I was thinking, is it safe to swim at night? We passed by the main hotel in front of a wide patio. The big native house was illuminated by the light coming from the corner balcony.
It was kinda eerie looking at the long and empty alley which was partly lighted. Since there was only one family occupying the unit, we preferred to stay in one room on the corner balcony so the kids could play there. It has two double bamboo beds with a fine mattress. We asked for one extra mattress which Amanda gave us right away. The room has no tv but with a private bathroom.
It’s good that we bought food because there was no store or even a restaurant outside to eat. My hubby got so busy in his all-time favorite grilling activity. The kids did not swim anymore; they sprawled on the floor and played with their toys. Our teens were busy with their gadgets.
After helping my hubby, I went to the other side of the house with more vacant rooms. It gave me some creeps looking at the dark alley so I didn’t dare walk farther. The noise and laughter of our kids, I guess, will drive away those bad spirits in this unit.
After eating our dinner, we all stayed on the balcony. We could hear the sound of the evening waves. The cool breeze was just perfect for complete relaxation. It was tempting to swim, but no one wanted to wade in the water anymore. Later we went into bed to catch a comfortable sleep.
I leaped out of bed around 5 a.m. to capture the sunrise for picture taking. My hubby, Pao, Shen, and Isha woke up early too. It was cold outside. The smell of the morning breeze was so soothing. We walked around the resort until we hit the dusty road. There was an old lady sweeping in her front yard. I miss this provincial appeal, the trees, the chirping bird sound, the scent of fresh flowers, and the early riser locals. Indeed it was so invigorating.
The sun slowly beamed into the horizon. What a fascinating view it was! Indeed, it was a beautiful morning to start the day.
As we headed to the beachfront, we saw a view deck and took a glimpse in one native room. Later, they pulled my hand and we hastily went to the beach. Water was still, clear and shallow. The sand was creamy white but with few rocks on the seafloor. The kids can’t wait anymore. They were too excited to immerse themselves in the water even without eating their breakfast yet.
After an hour, we went back to the nipa hut to eat. But then, we all rushed off to the beach after our breakfast, leaving Mama and Lyn for they will cook for our lunch. It was so refreshing to swim because the water was shallow and so clear. Trusting the kids were safe, me and my hubby walked into the long stretch. It was already hot but we didn’t mind the scorching heat of the sun. We explored more until we can no longer stand the heat. When we went back, Mama and Lyn were wading on the water and we all had a wonderful moment.
We had our lunch in an open cottage fronting the sea.
Before we leave the resort, I was allowed by Amanda to see the big room near the beachfront. It was spacious, with a kitchen and hammock. Rate – P6,000. Then I headed to the main house where I’ve discovered, the rooms were quite nice, but it was good for two persons only. Rate – P1,500 on the lean season.
There are exciting places to visit near the resort like the Enchanted Cave and Cape Bolinao. But since we had limited time, it’s best to go back and stay in Bolinao a bit longer.
It was almost 2:00 pm when we checked out. We paid P1,500 for the room. But according to Amanda during peak season it costs P3,000. We thanked him for we had a nice stay and for letting us cook our rice free of charge. They were so gracious in serving guests and so helpful. With staff like them, we will definitely go back soon.
