Election day was over. Part of our one-week vacation in our hometown in Albay is the exciting sun and sand getaway. My relatives mentioned a secluded beach in Baryo Jonop in the municipality of Albay. I was puzzled for I knew there’s no beach resort in this town. Out of curiosity, we contacted a van for hire, hastily cooked for our lunch, and off we go for another water adventure.

Cagsawa Ruins: Picture Perfect Moment
Part of our Caramoan tour with my former office mates is to visit Albay’s primary tourist attractions with Cagsawa Ruins topping the list. This sojourn is for Sir Alex and Alma who will capture memories as they will set foot in my beloved hometown for the first time. I was a tour guide on this exciting getaway.
Vera Falls in Malinao, Albay: A Taste of Paradise
I was told by my former office mate Art Decena, a fellow Bicolano about their wonderful adventure in Vera Falls in my hometown in Malinao, Albay. They traversed across terrains, hills, forest trails in three hours coming from the main highway. They clung through vines and stepped into the slippery walkways getting down the main falls. He described Vera Falls as a “hidden paradise”, a sanctuary of nature’s finest gift. From then on, I’ve been dreaming of getting there, to experience that amazing trek, and see how stunning the waterfalls really are.
Tranquil Afternoon at Mayon Skyline, Albay
Mayon Skyline (former Mayon Rest House) was our last stop today coming from an overnight stay in Gubat, Sorsogon down to Cagsawa Ruins in Daraga, Albay. I was so delighted to see my family especially first-timers Noel and Pol enjoying every minute of our vacation in our hometown in Albay and in our neighboring region.
Palale Falls: Keep Coming Back to Tropical Paradise
I woke up at 5:30 am, hailed the curtain, and was captivated to see the sun embracing the vast rice field. I took my cam and hastily went outside our vacation house. I stood at the edge of the main road and captured my favorite sunrise photo. Soon there was a cheerful blue sky. What a lovely sight to start the day. Continue reading
Kawa-Kawa Hill Natural Park: Rejuvenate Yourself with Natural Wonder
Kawa-Kawa Hill is a 236-meter hill located in California Village, Barangay Tuburan in Ligao City. The hill got its name from “kawa” a local dialect that means a native cauldron. That wonderful shape could be seen upon reaching the crater through walking in a well-paved walkway and passing the five trails of Stations of the Cross.
Dhio Endheka: Dip into a Refreshing Natural Spring
It was so rejuvenating to revisit the Cagsawa Ruins and the Mayon Skyline (formerly called Mayon Resthouse), with our first time at Busay Falls this morning. We ended our day in a cool refreshing dip at Dhio Endheka Spring Resort located in Barangay Buang, municipality of Tabaco. We were so thankful to my uncle, Tito Jaime for providing his jeepney and his driver Danny on our road trip to my humble hometown, Albay.
Cagsawa Ruins after Typhoon Reming
We saw traces of typhoon Reming’s aftermath when we visited our relatives in Albay this Lenten Holiday. It was so pathetic as our uncle, cousins, and friends told their stories during and after the catastrophe. But somehow, they were slowly recovering from their losses.
Mayon Skyline, Albay: Heaven on Earth
Summer heat hits the entire region so off we went for a sojourn in my beloved hometown Albay. We’ve been told by our relatives that it was raining the past few weeks. But I was so thankful because the weather was very cooperative the moment we arrived at our vacation house in Malinao.
