My hubby’s office mates from CSD-Makati and ESS departments organized a summer beach getaway in Canyon Cove in Nasugbu, Batangas. I got so excited when he told me that our two kids and I are included in their activity. Summer has not ended yet, and here we are for another sand and sun adventure. Yahoo!!!
Those who have cars offered a ride to those who do not have. We opted to bring our car because we will take the Cavitex route so we can visit again the now famous Kaybiang Tunnel, the new Ternate-Nasugbu Road in Maragondon, Cavite and the stunning sea view of Batangas, its coves and nearby islands.
It was almost 1:00 pm when we arrived at the resort. Froi, the early bird, and my hubby’s closest buddy was waiting at the parking area and led us to the apartment. It’s so nice to see old faces whom I did not see for years and meeting new staff, young and vibrant. So good to mingle with IT guys.
It was lunchtime and so we feasted on fried chicken, pork liempo, sinabawang tahong, grilled tuna, grilled eggplant, banana, and watermelon. In times of a getaway like this, I always set aside counting the calories. Haha!
The apartment had one big room with a private bathroom and toilet, living room, and dining area. Its functional kitchen had a gas stove, refrigerator, rice cooker, a common bathroom and toilet, and a balcony overlooking the sea.
What I like about this unit is that occupants can cook food in the kitchen. What’s more, bringing of food is allowed with no corkage fee. Beach swimming is free. But for those who will use the swimming pool, P200/head is charged for it.
By 2:00 pm, our little Shen Shen sweetly coerced us to swim. We changed to swimwear and strolled along the long and wide stretch of beige sand and frolicked excitedly to the water!
The water was clear, shallow and so calm. So safe for little kids. Sand had a fine texture so it was so nice walking on foot. The beach area was not crowded compared to the front of the hotel, the main attraction of Canyon Cove. We had the place to ourselves.
Unfortunately, there is no night swimming at the beach. By 6:00 pm, we got out of the water (wishing we could have stayed longer) and sat on the sand. The picture-perfect sunset photo was the only consolation left for us at that very moment.
We went to the swimming pool to continue our water escapade. There was no resort staff to pay for our fees so we assumed it was now free since it was already 7:00 pm. And so we dived into the pool happily!
After a refreshing swim, we got back to the apartment. Boys were busy grilling tahong, additional tasty viand for dinner. Wooh! Again, we had a splendid meal and we were fully satiated. We opted to walk outside rather than to sit and to enjoy the night-time solitude.
When we went back we watched tv in the living room. By 9:00 pm, Shen and I went to our room where we shared with the girls. Tired and happy, we slept early. Pao slept on the sofa. Later, my hubby and the boys were busy swapping stories over a glass of beer.
I awoke early for my favorite sunrise photo. But as we went to the beachfront, the sun was rising at the back of the apartment. Such a failure, anyway, I had my amazing sunset photo naman the other night. We strolled early on the beach to catch the morning scent of the sea. It was so peaceful and so wonderful savoring the defined tranquility of the beach. Later we settled for breakfast.
I helped washed the dishes and later we immersed in the water and basked from the pleasant warmth of the morning sun. It was so relaxing to swim, no noise, no crowd.
We rinsed early and explored the hotel. There was a Gift shop inside so I bought keychains and ref magnets for my souvenirs. Then we went to the Kids Playground but little Shen did not want to play so we proceeded to the adult pool packed by bathers.
We ended up walking on the beach savoring the remaining minutes watching the calm water. Indeed, it was so invigorating that I want to stay more and feel nature’s finest gift.
Before we check out, we eat our lunch and later we pack up.

How did you avail of the apartment? We want to come but the hotel is very expensive and no food allowed.
Hi Mary jane,
We were given a discount because my husband’s office mate (the one who organized the outing) was acquainted with the owner of the resort.
